For any serious oenophile, having a designated space in the home in which to store their prized drinking wines is a key consideration when deciding on the interior design scheme. Wine cabinets can be cumbersome and restrict the number of bottles that can be stored, whilst heading down into the basement (old or new) limits the pleasure of having the wine on display.
The ultimate storage solution for functionality, flexibility and exquisite design is a bespoke wine room. And Spiral Cellars, the leading provider of large capacity home wine storage in the UK, is now offering this premium option.
Creating luxurious, temperature-controlled, expertly laid out wine rooms is a natural extension of the Spiral Cellars offering, and it is the company’s experience and knowledge that brings this complete service to the UK for the first time. Partnering with established Belgian firm Degre 12, Spiral Cellars bridges the gap to give UK clients an effortless experience and a full service package, from the design and interior decoration to the execution of the space itself. If required, Spiral Cellars can even arrange for the completed room to be stocked with a collection of fine wines, in association with a specialist sommelier.
The size of the wine room is limited only by the space where it will be positioned, and can be finished in a range of traditional and contemporary materials specific to the client's wishes, from oak, wenge and stone to glass and even Corian. The wine room works not only as effective storage and to present the client’s collection to guests, but also as an opulent space in which to experience the wine, with endless furniture and equipment options for tastings.
The layout of the room can be created around the preferred wines in a collection, with the most prized bottles given dedicated display cases and shelving, as well as frequently consumed wines placed close to hand. In properties where the wine room is going into the ground floor space, the client can even opt to incorporate a Spiral Cellar for those wines in the collection that require longer-term cellaring.
Spiral Cellars will begin the process by meeting with the client and, where required, their design team to understand their desires for this space, including preferred styles and materials, which will then be followed by initial designs. Once the design is agreed the wine room, including all construction and fitting out, is completed to the highest standards by Degre 12, in partnership with Spiral Cellars.
Wine rooms start from approximately £8,000 to £10,000 per square metre.
