At its best, no region can compare to Burgundy – however, at its worst, the disappointments can be enough to cause loss of faith in wine altogether!
Undeniably we are today in a golden age for the region, with the quality never better but with the demand also never greater, a particular problem given the tiny quantities produced.

The best of anything is always worth paying for but today there are plenty of producers whose wines need not have you selling off the family silver in order to acquire them and who can still deliver stunning quality.

Bordeaux – the past, the present and the future

The great wines of Bordeaux are undoubtedly the best known and most sought after across the world. This is largely due to the long history of vine cultivation in the area, the fact that Bordeaux is situated on the river Garonne and thus was able to export barrels of wine, by boat, from the early 12th Century and by its sheer scale of production.
