The temperature within a Spiral Cellar is set by the ground temperature and ranges between 8-18°C annually; it is also a well-ventilated space and ideal short-term storage for items such as root vegetables, dairy items like butter and cheese, as well as tinned goods and cans, and all those extra goodies that can’t be squeezed into the cupboards at Christmas. The bins within the cellar – the compartments where wine bottles are stacked – are ideal for loading up with food that is either an overspill from the kitchen or will benefit from storing for some time, like homemade jams and chutneys. With at least 42 bins in each cellar, there is ample space to store food alongside the wine collection, which will please both the wine lover and the cook in the family!
Many Spiral Cellars customers choose to position their cellar within the main entertaining space so that their
wine collection is close to hand and, as many homes are now evolving to feature a large kitchen-cum-dining area, storing larder items in a Spiral Cellar makes perfect sense.
The Spiral Cellar is dug into the earth through the ground floor of the house so can be placed in the kitchen or surrounding area, for easy access when cooking and entertaining. Because it is in the ground a Spiral Cellar doesn’t take up floor space like a pantry cupboard or cabinet and if space is particularly tight the half of the cellar that is sealed with concrete can be placed beneath a kitchen island unit or cabinets and the half that is topped with the door can be placed in the galley.
A Spiral Cellar is undoubtedly the most simple and effective built-in wine storage solution available, offering the ideal conditions, the greatest capacity and no running costs – all constructed in up to just 8 days. Now it can add hard-working dual purpose storage to its list of attributes…
