Trap Doors

Most of the trap doors cover half of the circular hole that is dug. With these doors the other half is covered with concrete and the floor covering of the rest of the room.

The door can be positioned at any point on the centre line of the cellar – to suit the room layout or the easiest access point. We then locate the first step in line with the trap door, with the steps descending either clockwise or anti-clockwise. In most occasions, the open trap door is opposite the entry point, and as you descend it acts as a pseudo handrail.

For additional security on the cellars with motorised doors, the opening switch requires a separate key for it to function. We also locate an opening switch inside the cellar.

Please note, all Spiral Cellars trap doors are sold as part of cellar installations and are not sold separately.
